Technical Services

JobBOSS technical consultants perform an average of 50 upgrades per week. This experience and expertise minimizes downtime surrounding installations, upgrades or other technical events.  IT services outside of our registered consultants take longer to complete tasks, risking more billable hours and expected downtime.

All of the below events are typically performed remotely, saving you traveling expenses.  

Technical Services Available:

Installations

A JobBOSS Consultant will connect into your server and configure the latest version of JobBOSS, as well as install any add-on modules.  Nightly database backups are configured, and necessary adjustments to the server's firewall are made. The Consultant will review the client installation process on one machine and will provide written step-by-step instructions to use on additional clients.

Pre-Requisites:
- Review the system requirements of JobBOSS against the machines you plan to use for the server and clients
- Download the files designated by the JobBOSS Scheduler in the confirmation e-mail

Upgrades

Using a JobBOSS Consultant for your upgrades will bring your JobBOSS server up to date in the most efficient manner possible while also updating all add-on modules and ensuring  that configured Database backups are running.  After, the Consultant will review the client upgrade process on one machine and provide written step-by-step instructions to use on additional clients.

Pre-Requisites:
- Review the system requirements of JobBOSS against the machines you plan to use for the server and clients
- Download the files designated by the JobBOSS Scheduler in the confirmation e-mail

Test Environment Setup

Planning to upgrade? If you have custom solutions, like Crystal Reports, on an older version of JobBOSS, it is recommended to test all utilities with the new version before implementation.  A Consultant will configure the latest version on a test machine, without damaging your data. Start using your data and reports on the latest version of JobBOSS and ensure that you're ready to upgrade your live environment without surprises.

Pre-Requisites:
- A machine that won’t need to have the "live" version of JobBOSS running on it and meets the system requirements of the latest version of JobBOSS to act as the test Server/Client. 

Server Migrations and JobBOSS Disaster Recovery

All data and custom reporting files are moved during the Server Migration. The consultant will confirm that all add-on modules are correctly configured on the new server and also set up database backups and the necessary firewall adjustments on the new server.  Then, the Consultant will review the client re-pointing process on one machine, and provide written step-by-step instructions to use on your additional clients.

- Download the files designated by the JobBOSS Scheduler in the confirmation e-mail

Server Migrations with a JobBOSS Upgrade

All services included with a JobBOSS Server Migration and JobBOSS Upgrade are performed together as a single time-saving service.

- Review the system requirements of JobBOSS against the machines you plan to use for the new server
- Download the files designated by the JobBOSS Scheduler in the confirmation e-mail

Product Add-On Installation

When a JobBOSS Consultant performs add-on installations, it will be done right the first time. Having an experienced resource that understands the link between the two products is critical for a smooth installation.

Pre-Requisites:
- JobBOSS is installed and running
- Review the system requirements of the add-on products against the machines you plan to use for the new server
- Download the files designated by the JobBOSS Scheduler in the confirmation e-mail

Access to SQL Database Conversion

If you are upgrading a past version or looking to increase the performance of your current version, converting your Access Database to SQL is recommended. Additionally, JobBOSS consultants can proactively correct potential database issues during the conversion.
 
Pre-Requisites:
- JobBOSS is installed and running
- A JobBOSS Feature Key that includes SQL

SQL Installation or Upgrade with a JobBOSS Database Migration

All JobBOSS and add-on module databases are moved and configured by a consultant to the new instance of SQL.  The JobBOSS Server operation is repointed to the new SQL instance allowing a seamless migration of the data from the client experience with typically less than 30 minutes of total downtime. SQL Database Backups will also be configured for your new server.

Pre-Requisites:
- JobBOSS is installed and running
- SQL Downloaded per the provided links from your scheduler OR the Full SQL CD 

Backup Validation and Best Practice Consultation

Prepare yourself for the worst. Have a JobBOSS Consultant look at your data backups - first and foremost to confirm, at a minimum, nightly backups are running.  From there, they discuss your backup goals, backup cycles and media rotation.

- JobBOSS installed and using SQL databases 

Old Version Server Cleanup

Engage a JobBOSS Consultant to clean your server, moving all items that are not being used by the current version of JobBOSS into a single folder.  A safety check is applied as you continue to run. If no issues arise after discarding the files, that folder can be deleted; reducing server clutter and reclaiming hard drive space.

- JobBOSS installed

Performance Consultation

Do you feel that JobBOSS isn’t running as fast as it should?  Have you been running JobBOSS for years and know you have data stored that you no longer need?This may be responsible for slowing down your queries. Have a JobBOSS Consultant analyze your JobBOSS Server to confirm you're firing on all cylinders.  This type of consultant is multi-faceted, beginning with a survey of your overall server including hardware, Windows & SQL versions, JobBOSS Database size, number of users and so on.  From there, recommendations can be made either to adjust the hardware/software in place, or if your hardware checks out, you may be referred to a Database Consultant to review your data history. They will work with you to determine if there is some data that can be purged to improve your performance.  

Pre-Requisites:
- JobBOSS installed and using a SQL database

Objectives:
- Make sure your server is "dressed for success"
- Provide simple recommendations for performance improvement if some available
- Analyze data to purge unnecessary legacy records from the main data tables (this data will not be completely discarded though - it is still part of your database)

Database Corruption Repair

JobBOSS Support is there to help you with a set of tools that correct known data issues caused by bugs in the product. However, there are other non-bug factors that can introduce bad records in to a JobBOSS database, and when these things happen, it takes a closer look to work through the issues. A JobBOSS Database Consultant can grab a copy of your database - allowing you to continue working in your live environment - and use that copy to determine where problems are. They can then use their findings to repair your live JobBOSS database, fixing the problem in a method that minimizes downtime.

Objectives:
- Fix unexplained JobBOSS errors and hangups

Data Validator

Data corruption within your database commonly causes errors in both your current and upgraded JobBOSS platforms. When upgrading your database, carrying any corrupted or orphaned records to the new version can result in greater system errors and lead to prolonged downtime. The Data Validator process finds data discrepancies and orphaned records while producing a report to direct consultants to the area of concern. This results in a proactive database fix and minimizes downtime.

Objectives:
- Fix databases with orphaned or corrupted data before upgrading JobBOSS or moving from Access to SQL.
